Reviving craftmanship in countries at war

  • The Koppel Project 91-93 Baker Street London W1U 6QQ (map)

A unique shopping event presented by Ishkar, curator of luxury craftsmanship from countries at war.

Flore and Edmund, who founded Ishkar after 3 years spent in Afghanistan, will talk about how reviving craftsmanship in countries at war restores a virtuous circle. Through their curated collection of beautiful objects – each made by an artisan whose practice has been affected by conflict – they hope to provide a window onto countries known for their rich culture long before they were known for war. Read more about the story of Ishkar here.

Discover and buy beautiful pieces wrapped up for Christmas: glassware, tableware and jewellery from Afghanistan, shawls from Syria, cushions from Mali.
Valuing slow production over fast, the human hand over the machine, natural materials over the synthetic, Ishkar reminds us of the outstanding beauty of luxury craftsmanship.
