When it comes to philanthropy, adapting to a local context is key. Africa bears one-quarter of the global disease burden, but only has 2% of the world’s doctors. We will review the main philanthropic initiatives to accelerate progress in health in the region with two experts from organisations working in the field at tackling research, treatment and behavioural change, with a mission to build local capacity for solving health problems in mainly sub-Saharan Africa. They will share their insight on the most impactful solutions and examples of local challenges when addressing medical needs.
We're grateful to Lombard Odier for their generous support of this event.
