Annual growth of fish consumption has surpassed the growth rate of all animals combined; in Europe alone we eat 27 kilos a year of fish per capita. With a growing population to feed – 9 billion by 2050, we look at what is the most sustainable way to eat fish – wild, farmed or perhaps from the lab. Marine animals are far more vulnerable to extinctions than land creatures. They are complexly related to other organisms in the food web. Fisheries are influencing the evolution of this ecosystem with larger fish becoming scarcer. From fishermen to consumers, how do we ensure the survival of fish?
